I have been reading a book by Tom Kelly called The Ten Faces of Innovation. He and his brother have a company that was founded many years ago named, IDEO. They actually designed the very first computer mouse for Apple. They find people who are driven to think outside the box to create anything anyone could ever imagine. In 2009 the company was featured on 60 Minutes. The directors of the TV program gave the designers the task of creating a new shopping cart – in five days! The video is excellent to watch. (Video below) One of the personalities Kelly describes in his book is called a “Hurdler.” This is a person who, once confronted with an obstacle, immediately assumes that there are many ways around it. In the Bible, David was a hurdler! There was a massive obstacle name Goliath that utterly stopped Saul’s army in its tracks. David saw the big guy and couldn’t imagine why Goliath would ever be able to stop an army of God. David knocked him down and kept right on going. God’s Church today has a huge need for Hurdlers like David! We need believers who can tackle any mountain Satan lays before us like it’s just a bump in the road! Be a Hurdler! When problems stand before you remember Paul’s words: Philippians 4:13 (KJV) 13 I can do all this through Christ who gives me strength.
