Being a part of the Body of Christ is a great place to be. The church is an excellent place to plug in and connect with the family of God. A major issue is that the longer you’re in the Christian world, the bigger it gets. If forms a bubble around us and disconnects us with the people who live outside that bubble. That is not a good thing! When we separate ourselves, we lose track of how people on the outside of that bubble perceive us. Our disconnection leads the world around us to feel we are judgmental, exclusionary, intolerant, and stuck in the way we look at them. And why wouldn’t they think that way? In the early church, people on the outside thought Christians were cannibals, atheists, and were allowed to marry their brothers and sisters! Cannibals in that communion represents the blood and body of Christ who died for our sins. Atheists, because we don’t have a “statue” of God to worship. Incestuous because we call each other brothers and sisters in Christ, even if we are husband and wife. Most Christians are not judgmental! Most of us are not intolerant or exclusionary! And, there are just as many Christians on the Left side of the aisle as there are on the Right! I think, more than we know, our own Christian Bubble may prevent many people from ever finding Christ. We need to pop that bubble, get out into the world, and show people the love of Jesus.
