So, I’m not going to quote any scientific studies. You can look this up for yourself. Research has shown over and over again that two of the leading factors in living a long life are: 1. Adopting a healthy lifestyle; eat right and move! 2. Having a strong social network of friends that provide support and accountability.
Following the teachings of Jesus will bring you into a healthy lifestyle! Becoming a believer and being active in His ministry pulls you into a network of great people! Jesus give us something to live for! He gives purpose to meaningless lives! A church full of believers becomes a family…sometimes a dysfunctional family that needs some counseling, but a family none the less.
A church full of active followers of Christ is full of love, battles, and drama, joys, and heartbreak. All of which makes life full and sometimes stress-full! But that’s what keeps us human beings going. We are relational creatures. We need contact with others, and so does God. He wants a strong relationship with us. The stories we find throughout the Bible deal, primarily with our relationship with God and each other.
We’ve all heard people say, “I feel closest to God when I’m outside walking in the woods.” To which I say, “Great! How often do you go walking in the woods? Do you share that experience with people or just hang out there all alone?” If you have already accepted Jesus as your Savior, you will never, never experience him in his fullness out in the woods all by yourself. You may be in awe of God's creations and feel a great sense of amazement at His power. But God did not send His Son to die for our sins just to have us go out and walk in the woods. He sent His Son so that we will have a full, life filled with God and believers just like ourselves.
– The Bible is all about building relationships, not sitting at home watching TV.
If you have not been to church for a long time, get up and get plugged in!
