When I woke up this morning, there was an old song running through my head called Stand by Me. The song was written by Charles Tindley way back in 1905. (112 years ago.)
The line that kept playing over and over was, “When the storms of life are raging, stand by me.” This made me think of Mathew 14:39-31 where Peter actually got out of his boat and walked on the water! Christ was walking on the water and Peter said to Him, “Hey! I want to try that!” (I paraphrased a little right there.) Peter stepped out of the boat and was doing great until he looked at the raging wind and waves...Then he sank, and Jesus had to save him. He took his eyes off Jesus, looked at the chaos around him and gave into his fears.
Life is full of storms. The winds of turmoil blow in every direction possible. Troubles can come out of nowhere. We get distracted. We lose hope and lose our way. And, every time we lose our way we find we’ve taken our eyes off Jesus.
My Thought for your week: I love signs and find that I do better with constant reminders. Here’s one I’m having made for my office. Keep Your Eyes On Christ, Your Heart On God, And NEVER Let Satan Deter You!
