It’s Christmas Eve morning as I sit here, in my office, writing this article. I’m thinking about these last 40 years; how God has blessed my life and about all the people I have known and love. I’m thinking back to those Christmas Eve services of my youth. At the end of the service, the sanctuary here at Faith would be filled with people holding candles and quietly singing Silent Night. Most of those people have long since passed away. I can still see their faces. I can still hear their voices. I can still feel them with me.
When the service was over our family would go back to Mom & Dad’s house to have snacks and cider and just spend time together as a family…Mom, Dad and my brother are gone now and those evenings and memories have become more special to me over the years.
As a body of believers, it is wonderful to be able to look back and see how God has continually worked our lives. It is also exciting to know that He continues to bless us with new family, new friends and new experiences! And tonight, once again, the candles will be lit at Faith! The sanctuary will be filled with people singing Silent Night and we will make new, awesome memories! I’m looking forward to it!
Christmas is a time of giving. We give to our family, our friends. We make a point to spend time with people we know and care about…There are many, many people in the world who do not know someone who truly cares about them. There are those who have never had a Christmas worth remembering. While we are thinking of others, remember them…in some way. Pray for them. Do for them. Be Christ for them.
My thought for your week: God has blessed your life. If you look back you will see it. If you look forward you will see it. Make one of your new year’s resolutions to “Love God Back!” Go to church! Worship Him! Get involved in His ministry to others! If you love God, let Him know it! Put your love for Him into action!
