For the last week Michelle and I have been traveling all over Romania. We’ve been to Timisoara, Transylvania, Sibiu, Draganesti, and Sunday, Craiova.
This experience has been an awesome walk into the mission fields in Romania. We have met with U.S., Canadian and Romanian missionaries throughout the country. They are all driven to reach the people of their communities for Christ. We talked with a couple who opened an thrift store and are laying the framework of a new medical clinic. We talked with a couple reaching unwed mothers, and wed mothers for Christ. We’ve talked with new church planters in Timisoara and those who do training workshops on church planting.
Sunday, in Craiova, we spent the morning worshiping with the people of a new church plant. It was awesome to talk with a woman who had traveled 30 miles by bus just to be a part of this service. She has not made the decision to accept Christ yet but feels God calling her. Her family tells her she is crazy to travel all that way for such nonsense. Her battle with this choice is something we don’t have to worry about here in the U.S. If she gives her life to Christ, there is a great chance her family could disown her; or treat her as if she has lost her mind.
I love to see these people who are here, “on-fire”, working, and devoting their lives to Christ. What an amazing experience! I wish I could take our entire church back here or at least to one of these countries!
The pictures are of the church, the lead pastor, Kelly Chewing (another student in our program) and myself in the Sunday morning worship service, and of the thrift store missionaries.
One more time: Awesome.
Scripture for the week:
Romans 12: 11-13
11 Never let the fire in your heart go out. Keep it alive. Serve the Lord. 12 When you hope, be joyful. When you suffer, be patient. When you pray, be faithful. 13 Share with God's people who are in need. Welcome others into your homes.
